JOIN US FOR A SPECIAL EVENT

UNITY 2020, considered a community healing project, was created by Danko Production in partnership with Mayta Fusion Dance Company of NY.

The directors wanted an event that could help combat the traumatic and stressful events of 2020 from COVID, racial injustice, violence, unemployment, and mental health issues. All while showcasing talented artists from New York and Boston.

UNITY 2020 is for the whole family, and the goal is simply to bring people together to enjoy a great show in a safe, socially distant way. Our aim is to entertain, educate, and empower all participants. We hope you can join us for a weekend of holiday fun. Tickets are on sale now through Eventbrite for $10 each.

PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH  I  7:00 - 8:00 PM

Join us as we showcase various multicultural performing arts pieces of work that focus on the importance of unity and how we can come together to heal during the pandemic and racial tensions. We are proud to highlight the work of various community artists in New York and Massachusetts. Below is the line up of the evening events.

"The Wold Of Humanity Has Two Wings" Directed, choreographed and performed by Anna Mayta of Mayta Fusion Dance

The world of humanity has two wings – one is women and the other men. Not until both wings are equally developed can the bird fly. Should one wing remain weak, flight is impossible. Not until the world of women becomes equal to the world of men in the acquisition of virtues and perfections, can success and prosperity be attained as they ought to be. Inspired by a quote from the Writings of Abdul’-Baha, Baha’i writings.

“Black Is Beautiful” created and performed by Nick Jackson of A.B.E. (All Black Everything)

They Never Told Us in the History books they never told us on the tv Screens. We can’t talk about unity till we talk about unifying Melanated Beings, I’m here today to spread a message that Black is beautiful, and we need to unite under love. I stand under the sun, to the sounds of Chronixx and I say Black is beautiful, I say it on the streets, I say it on the mountains.

"For Them" choreographed and performed by Kathryn Boland

At this inflection point in history, we have a chance to create a new world -- one that allows all to move and breathe free and full: full of choice, communal support, and widespread thriving. Not unlike at the Founding, the choices we make now will have consequences rippling through for generations. I fight for justice and a better world for them, for the youth of now and generations to come. We owe them nothing less.

“Love Is the Message” performed by Katina McClain, the “Oneness" Workshop Instructors & Participants

It's a community dance that will be danced and choreographed by the participants and instructors in the Oneness workshop as part of performance art. The theme is simply about the power of love and how it is the fuel for putting the pieces together.

“Putting The Pieces Together” performed Katina McClain, Kris Martino, English High School (EHS) Dance Team & Dance Students with Danko Productions.

Putting the Pieces Together evolved from the brokenness and the fractured cracks of our society that constantly pit us against each other from social and income inequities, racial injustice, mental health issues,  gender equality, and the rights of the LBGTQ community. We have all been fighting these battles in silos, desperately shouting and waiting to be heard in order to receive aid and relief. The traumatic experience of Covid-19 and the deaths of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, and countless numbers of black lives lost at the hands of racism and police brutality have forced some to listen and find ways to bring us together. This piece offers a resolution on how we can continue our journey toward connecting, healing, and better understanding each other and lived experiences.
